MDH and I watched The Name of the Rose on DVD last night. I forgot how slashy that movie was! Q/O bunnies, anyone? Not to mention that incredible sex scene between a painfully young Christian Slater and that wild girl. Guh.

And all the priests looking sideways at Christian's character and remarking on what a beautiful boy he is... ;-)

Oh now that brings back memories... I was watching that movie many years ago with MDH and my dad and my dear departed mother, who was, to be fair, a little prudish. When that scene began, she just harrumphed and got up and left the room, at which point my dad jumped up and stopped the video. LOL! And to this day, I have never seen the end of that film...

I read an interview many years ago in which Slater remarked that working on that particular film had hastened his addiction to alcohol. Must have all been a bit traumatic for him.

I first saw that movie in my 20s and loved it. Still do.

BTW, read your political post yesterday and agree with virtually all you said. (The sole difference being that I believe in God, primarily from childhood habit, and go to church about once a month. Perhaps it's a matter of hedging my bets, not that I mean to be flippant about religion. I'd do well in Slytherin, in any case, covering my bases!)

It's a great film. Worth seeing the end! The relationship between the characters of Sean Connery and Christian Slater is SO Qui/Obi that I've often wondered if GL watched it before he wrote TPM.

Traumatic? I wonder why?

*grins* Thanks! I'm glad I made sense to somebody...

Oh, and nice icon! ;-)
