Obligatory political post
Nov. 7th, 2012 12:30 amYAY OBAMA!
I've been nauseated for weeks, terrified for this day. I was so, so afraid that Romney would win and my country would be set back 40 years. My relief and elation tonight -- it's hard to describe. I burst into tears, I really did. Women's reproductive rights are likely to be upheld. Marriage equality is going to keep moving forward. Conservative Christians have yet again been thwarted from imposing their agenda on everyone else.
Anyone remember this graphic from four years ago?

In other news, I really like the new style of the friends page. I know, unpopular opinion. But seriously, my perfect fandom social network would be a blend of LJ and Tumblr, so this works for me. :-)

Date: 2012-11-07 06:48 am (UTC)I voted for Jill Stein but I have the luxury to vote for who I really want because I'm in CA and we'll always pull electoral for Dem. I agree with her more than any other candidate in the past 12 years. I prefer Obama over Romney though….by a lot.
It has been interesting to see my foreign friends wake up and post about how relieved they are that we don't have Romney leading the powerhouse of modern civilization.
I like the new feed too...

Date: 2012-11-07 02:05 pm (UTC)The only thing I DIS-like about the new friends page is that it doesn't redirect properly. I type "chibinecco.livejournal.com/friends" (Like I've been doing for 4-6 YEARS) into my work computer; it has a hissy-fit. They've changed it to "chibinecco.livejournal.com/feed" which... really? you're too lazy to program a redirect correctly? *sigh*

Date: 2012-11-07 03:11 pm (UTC)I am so happy and full of love.
I don't like the new Friends page, but seeing you say you like it makes me feel better about it.
Everybody I've seen in Philly today is too exhausted to look as happy and relieved as we feel. :-)

Date: 2012-11-08 02:29 am (UTC)As for the new friends/feed page, I prefer the customization of the old system and wish infinite scrolling could be turned off (it's actually my main pet-peeve with Tumbler because of some bandwidth issues it can cause in my household, and also the pain it can be to refresh a page). However, it wouldn't annoy me over-much if you weren't stuck in the one colour theme. I'd be (while not spectacularly happy) content if they at least had a 'night' option like on ff.net or one or two limited other colour schemes (like on many archive sites), one of which included light text on dark background. I find the epic amounts of white space on the new feed literally painful and may have to change the way I read things from LJ if the force the new layout onto everyone, because LJ is really not worth the tension headaches/migraines white-space contributes to for me.
