YAY OBAMA!

I've been nauseated for weeks, terrified for this day. I was so, so afraid that Romney would win and my country would be set back 40 years. My relief and elation tonight -- it's hard to describe. I burst into tears, I really did. Women's reproductive rights are likely to be upheld. Marriage equality is going to keep moving forward. Conservative Christians have yet again been thwarted from imposing their agenda on everyone else.

Anyone remember this graphic from four years ago?

In other news, I really like the new style of the friends page. I know, unpopular opinion. But seriously, my perfect fandom social network would be a blend of LJ and Tumblr, so this works for me. :-)

YES!!! I TOTALLY DO!!! That was my wallpaper for two months!

I voted for Jill Stein but I have the luxury to vote for who I really want because I'm in CA and we'll always pull electoral for Dem. I agree with her more than any other candidate in the past 12 years. I prefer Obama over Romney though….by a lot.

It has been interesting to see my foreign friends wake up and post about how relieved they are that we don't have Romney leading the powerhouse of modern civilization.

I like the new feed too...

I haven't tried the new feed but I am not really against the idea of it. But, I am majorly sad that one of my friends left LJ today to post on DW and I couldn't even post a comment to tell her that I wish she didn't leave because the stupid DW openid thing never works for me. I really don't want any more friends to leave LJ...

When I woke up in the middle of the night, it was Romney 153 - Obama 123. "Scary" doesn't even begin to cover it. So happy with the final result!

I almost cried last night when CNN announced it, but I remember Election 2000 and I couldn't breathe easy until I turned on the TV this morning. I'm sort of fighting off the tears right now.

I am *so* relieved. This has a huge impact on us in Europe as well and watching it unfold was terrifying. I didn't even realise until this morning how scared I really was that Romney was going to be elected.

I had NOT seen that macro, but it is DELICIOUS XD

The only thing I DIS-like about the new friends page is that it doesn't redirect properly. I type "chibinecco.livejournal.com/friends" (Like I've been doing for 4-6 YEARS) into my work computer; it has a hissy-fit. They've changed it to "chibinecco.livejournal.com/feed" which... really? you're too lazy to program a redirect correctly? *sigh*

I hadn't seen that graphic before and it's amazing.

I am so happy and full of love.

I don't like the new Friends page, but seeing you say you like it makes me feel better about it.

Everybody I've seen in Philly today is too exhausted to look as happy and relieved as we feel. :-)

Wow, that graphic is so simple but so eloquent.

I'm glad this whole election process is over and has a good result, thank God.

Only fly in the ointment--Michelle Bachmann survived. Otherwise I'm a happy girl. Love that graphic.

I was so happy when I woke up this morning and heard the results. It was tense last night, going to bed without any of the results being in yet (dratted time differences with being on the east side of the Atlantic these days). A lot of my family back in the states voted the other way, one of my cousins posted a rant on facebook today about how "Obama making America more European" was a travesty and Europe wasn't actually that great a place to live and work and if you want America to be more like Europe you should just go there and my first reaction was "Yeah, already did, thanks." All my friends and family over here were extremely relieved when they heard the results. The American presidential race gets a lot of coverage here and Romney made an extremely bad impression both with his policies and his behaviour on his visit back around the Olympics. There was a poll in today's paper that basically said about 80% of brits would vote for Obama over Romney, and that included over 50% of conservatives, because Romney/Ryan's just too extreme even for them. So yeah, I knew NY would go to Obama but I still sent in my absentee ballot last month for the point of the matter.

As for the new friends/feed page, I prefer the customization of the old system and wish infinite scrolling could be turned off (it's actually my main pet-peeve with Tumbler because of some bandwidth issues it can cause in my household, and also the pain it can be to refresh a page). However, it wouldn't annoy me over-much if you weren't stuck in the one colour theme. I'd be (while not spectacularly happy) content if they at least had a 'night' option like on ff.net or one or two limited other colour schemes (like on many archive sites), one of which included light text on dark background. I find the epic amounts of white space on the new feed literally painful and may have to change the way I read things from LJ if the force the new layout onto everyone, because LJ is really not worth the tension headaches/migraines white-space contributes to for me.
