Since she's protecting her tweets, she has to follow you for you to read them--maybe that's the only reason? It seems strange she doesn't have the verified account checkmark.

Nope, Twitter doesn't work like that. I follow Mark Sheppard, as he has a locked account, but he doesn't follow me. He just allowed me to see them.

Now, if you want to say if Liza wanted to see Emma's tweets, that would be an accurate assessment. Emma has to grant her access, but Emma doesn't have to follow her.

It's weird, and it confused the heck out of me at first.
