I'm not in the Merlin fandom, but you don't have to be to enjoy this fic. I'm sure there are Merlin-things I missed, but I read it as an original slash fic set in fandom. The premise is that two fanboys, one a BNF and the other a lurker, get to know each other on LJ and fall in love. It's so freaking adorable and funny, and taps into the politics of fandom, good and bad, in brilliant ways. The characters are drawn so well that it's easy to imagine that they're real people.

Pairing Pendragon/Merlin by an anon author.

Highly, highly recommended reading, for anyone in any fandom! I should also note that this fic made me think about a certain romance between two HP fanboys several years back (one of whom was a huge BNF), and whose developing relationship was the subject of MUCH discussion and fangirling. At least four of you out there probably know who I'm thinking of... ;-)
