The fic is an incredibly complex mystery, and it's so well written that it just made me grin throughout. The writer's style is just what I like: she gives the reader just enough information to follow what's happening, but not a word more -- no unnecessary exposition, no information given to you before you need to know it. I absolutely LOVE it when a writer doesn't underestimate her reader's intelligence. But on top of that, the writing has fantastic little moments of humor in it, and the fic doesn't take itself too seriously. It almost reminds me of the style of fic written in this fandom years ago.
The characterizations are fantastic, including a Ron who is as 3-dimensional as I've ever seen in a H/D fic. The first description of Draco is-- well, I don't want to spoil it. I'll just say that I love this Draco a lot! The development of Harry's and Draco's relationship is so well done here, and so believable that even people who don't like H/D would probably concede that it works. And it's done without any of the angst-ridden plot devices most H/D fics (including my own) employ.
The mystery is complex, the descriptions of the magic incredibly creative, the sex gorgeous and hot, and there is a twist at the end that I dare anyone to guess until it stares you in the face.
I know it's a long read at 38K words, but it's SO worth it!! This fic deserves a lot more comments than it currently has.
