I am so lucky Grant and I have such similar movie taste, especially when it comes to Trek -- he and I both loved VI, and think it's about as good as TOS ever got. ^_^ Sadly, he thought XI was a little too much "action movie", although he approves of the reboot itself!
Captain Exposition sounds like a Buffy reference to me, but I couldn't tell you where. ^_^
Y'know, I expected to be all over Kirk/Spock myself, just because it's so classic, but I too am enamored of Spock/Uhura. Ultimately, though, I fell so hard for Sulu it wasn't even funny, so hard it actually pulled me out of my writing slump, and I am so happy about that! So far, the only thing I've written that doesn't involve Sulu is a Pike/Kirk mirror universe fic. :D
Are you watching TOS now? I've been rewatching it and just got my hands on the remastered edition, which is lots of fun. I love being into a fandom with this much canon; I could watch half a dozen episodes a day for months and not be out! I haven't been able to wallow this much in a fandom since I started watching Buffy, and I was never into the fic there, so this is all pretty glorious -- all my fandoms have been past their "golden years" by the time I got to them, so this is the first time I've been there at the ground floor. Then again, I guess you could make an argument that Trek was long past its golden years by the time XI came around... ;)
