emmagrant01: (ST come see)
[personal profile] emmagrant01
Have just seen Star Trek. Hired a babysitter so I could go in the middle of the day by myself and revel in the slashy goodness. Holy shit, people. Holy fuck. I need me some Kirk/Spock fic STAT. Preferably something written in the last couple of weeks. Surely there are a few hundred new comms by now. Recs? Anyone?

OMFG, wasn't it brilliant how they made the film AU from ST:TOS, so that the entire future is wide open? I mean, seriously, is that not the most brilliant thing they could have done? Now there can be all new fics, books, movies, and fics -- did I mention fics? -- none of which have to follow the TOS canon! Or, they could just rewrite it all, given the newly rewritten history! You don't really even have to know much about the TOS-verse in order to read and write it! Mwahaha! The old-timers are either going to love that or hate it, but I am just in awe of the brilliance of that move on the part of the film's writers.

And holy shit, the slashy potential! Sure, they threw that whole Spock/Uhura thing in there to take the edge off, but by the end of the film, Spock and Kirk only had eyes for each other. Old!Spock practically said so much to Young!Spock at the end. He was all, "You neeeeed each other."

Oh, yes. They sure do. And hell, throw Uhura into the mix too. Why not?

And holy shit, that last scene, when Eric Chris Pine's Kirk walked onto the bridge, he had utterly morphed into Shatner's Kirk. It was fantastic. I got chills.

I have been waiting a long time for this film, because I knew it would give me just the kick in the ass I needed to get back into fandom. Consider my ass well and truly kicked! Woot!

I saw it for the second time last night, and I swear it was even better the second time around.

And yes, Kirk and Spock SO NEED each other. (I've always been a Spock gal. What can I say; I have a soft spot for guys who have a hard time with emotions. *g*)

It was so awesome! I'm taking my mom to see it on Friday, she's a huge Sci-Fi fan. I can't wait to see it again!

I loved it so much that while I was watching it the first time I was wondering when I could see it again!!!

OMG, I'm still squeeing, even a week later and 3 showings of it. I'm plotting time to sneak out this weekend to see it again. *g*

I hate to admit I never did K/S until I saw this movie. And now, it's all I can think about.

ETA: I can't spell either. *g*

I agree with everything you said in your post. I was very apprehensive about what I saw in the previews as revisionist history, but it was all good once it became AU. It was really a moment of true genius on the part of the writers.

And the new fic I've been seeing so far has been awesome. Certainly better than some of my more cringe worthy early efforts from the 1970's. Even all the icky het could not dampen my enthusiasm. ;D

Hop on over to [livejournal.com profile] st_reboot. There's been a fair bit film inspired Kirk/Spock, Kirk/Spock/Uhura, and Kirk/McCoy. I believe there's even a brand new comm for Kirk/McCoy.

I really loved it the three times I've seen it. Of course, the more I try and understand it, the more I realize that the science is, uh, ridiculously inconsistent.

On the other hand, I love nu!Scotty and nu!Chekov so much that it doesn't even matter.

It's like the movie should have been titled Kirk/Spock: The Epic Romance Begins!!!!

EEEE!!! I loved it, too. SO GOOD. Oh man. When you find fic, please please make recs or something because I haven't seen any yet and I need it!

Also, I am going to see RENT tomorrow :) Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp will be there and so, YES. I am very excited and so I'm randomly telling people :P

Someone already mentioned [livejournal.com profile] st_reboot

You can check out these too :

[livejournal.com profile] newtrekslash

[livejournal.com profile] spock_uhura (It has some wonderful OT3 fic already)

Singularity on dreamwidth also has some really good fic.

Still no ST:TOR icons but I'm looking.

Yes on the brilliant idea of a fork of canon for the reboot. I think the alternate twist was a really smart move it does free up the writers to do what they like and still pick what canon they want for telling their stories. All writers *g*

I was about to hop in and mention [livejournal.com profile] st_reboot (where there has been a EXPLOSION of fic), but someone beat me to it.

And yes, I share the ST love. Who knows? Perhaps this time around, you and I might even ship the same pairing? Stranger things have happened!
