I blew off some grading today and spent a ridiculous amount of time catching up on the Luke/Noah storyline on As the World Turns. My god, I totally forgot how addicting soap operas can be! Happily, there are plenty of folks who distill out the parts you want to see and post the clips.

And then I may have wasted even more time reading some really amazing fanfic...

Um.... why is it that I haven't watched ATWT since I was about 10 years old? I think it's time for me to re-visit the show. Although I'm sure I won't know who anyone is anymore. All I remember are Lily and Holden (hehe) and Lucinda Walsh.

The guy who plays Luke is a really good actor, so I'm enjoying that quite a lot.

Soap opera plots go soooo slowly, man. I caught up on three months of stuff in like two hours. But it was worth it! Of course, now I have to wait again. :-P

I was flipping through the channels one day recently and I caught a kiss between two boys on some soap, so it was probably these two guys. It was really cute.

Well, to be honest, I'll only be in it for the boy-kissing too. It's just one of the soaps my mom used to watch when I was a kid; therefore, it's one of the reasons my Barbies had such f'ed up sex lives! lol

I'm totally hooked on Luke/Noah and have been since The Kiss. I TiVo it now, because I can't wait for LukeVanFan to post! Thanks for the fanfic links; I'm loving the Nuke fics, and the Jansis fics (I never thought I'd be into RPS, but Jake/Van owns my soul even more than Jared/Jensen). OOC (i.e. in interviews), neither one of them pings my gaydar, but, MAN O MAN, I would love to have Van Hansis for a boyfriend! :) (Jensen Ackles, OTOH, sets my gaydar screaming.)

It's fun! The moving at a snail's pace is annoying, but that's the way soaps work. Thank the Force for You Tube, though. That makes it a lot easier to sift through! ;-)

It's really sweet, even though it's so cliched it's kind of funny. For people who've been reading and writing slash for years, some of the writing is quite annoying. But still, there are pretty boys kissing and longing for each other, and that can make me overlook quite a lot. ;-)

A little research (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luke_Snyder) into the character reveals his parentage is (of course) more complicated than that. It's actually funny how stupid three years of soap plots can sound when condensed into a few paragraphs, heh.

Have you ever heard of the British soap opera, Hollyoaks? It has a similar story. People have been youtubing it too, you should check it out.

You should definitely check out Hollyoaks. I started out following Nuke and then discovered John Paul and Craig's storyline. It is so much better than Nuke. For one thing, the actors who play JP and Craig are amazing. Youtube users da33431 (http://www.youtube.com/user/da33431) and crumpetsandjam (http://www.youtube.com/user/crumpetsandjam) have the story uploaded.

!!! I was just about to say that :P but spiked was faster :) anyway, I've already writeen my comment out, so here it is as I wanted to post it jsut now:

Emma, thanks for the recs :) I've never really watched soaps but I totally got into this thing and wasted a big chunk of Saturday on the Nuke videos and some fic as well ;)

In one of the comments on youtube I saw someone saying that there's this British soap with a gay storyline as well on youtube, called Hollyoakes and after I got through the nuke stuff, I checked that out as well and am trying to, um, return the favour by reccing it to you :) Here are links to youtube clips of the John-Paul/Craig storyline (I think there's about 140 you tube videos or thereabouts). There's boykissing :D But as it's not slashfic but daytime soap, they put 'drama' first and boykissing second, so there's lots more drama then boykissing. But still :D Very addictive. The storyarc seems to be over now (finished last week :() and I'm not too happy about how things turned out in the end. Still, I really enjoyed watching and I do recommend :)
