Date: 2004-01-27 08:08 pm (UTC)Okay, so Hollywood racism isn't entirely the Oscars' fault. But I've seen too many talented actors of color get passed over for a nomination, let alone a win. The Oscars is just a giant popularity contest, run by a bunch of rich old white men. The last time I watched any of the Oscars was the year when Robin Williams sang the song nominated from "South Park: The Movie."
The only remotely interesting thing will be if LOTR wins for best picture. Um...assuming it indeed got nominated?

I try and I try to give up the Oscars as every year they annoy the hell out of me, but I just can't stop. Hells - I'm still sore that Tom Hanks didn't win Best Actor for Big, and that's gods only knows how many years ago :o) It's all so bloody political... watch how ILM won't win Best Effects for PotC even though the CGI in that film was jaw-droppingly awesome. Lucas's face doesn't fit, so it'll go to WETA... again. Every year MDH rolls his eyes at me as I have my annual Oscar rant. Last year it was Chicago, this year, it's the total absence of nominations for Big Fish... I just get passionate about these things... Can't help it!

*smooches anyway*
