And when I'm done, I will go back through and watch all of the episodes that have commentaries! That will be fun. Something to look forward to, and to alleviate the depression I know I will feel at running out of canon at long last. Joss makes some great commentary on the slashy 'subtext,' especially in S5 of Angel. :D
The Wish - The first time this aired, I had orchestra rehearsal, and had to tape it, and the VCR horribly failed me and cut the episode off in the middle of the commercial break right after Cordelia makes her wish. I screamed, threw a temper tantrum, and was sent to my room at the age of 15. (Yes, I was a brat. Still am, although no one can send me to my room anymore. Ha.) Anyway, yes. This episode spawned my obsession with Vamp!Xander. I absolutely love him - souled, not souled, whatever. He is the non-existant god of my Buffyverse.
Helpless I was almost sorry to see Zachary get staked. The actor returns much later in the series, although as a different character. Great creepy dude.
The Zeppo - Okay, I have nothing to really add here, except - YES, this is Xander. Big heart, helping hands, and he always finds a way to come through when he has no other options. But he also has real flaws... which makes him very, very real to me - more so than probably any other character on the show. I can start to see the show making fun of itself a bit Oh, my GAWD. It gets worse from here. Or better, depending on your perspective. ^_~
And I totally *heart* these posts. I can't wait until I get my Chosen collection on DVD. I'm gonna watch straight through from the beginning. :D
