Oh yeah. That's what I love about it - and Farscape, too - the way they take SF cliches (time travel, body swap, groundhog day) and manage to both play it straight and recognise that it's cracky. But it's not parody.
The Onion or Landover Baptist are parody, but not crack (took me several pages to work out that Landover was parody because they're so like the real thing, and of course all HP fans know how people take the Onion seriously at times).
The movie Airplane is both (despite lifting their plot and much of their script almost verbatim from a movie that was meant to be taken seriously).
Hmm. Parody is making fun of something to point out its absurdities, while crack is absurd in and of itself?
