Harrison Ford on the SWHS

Harrison Ford was on Conan O'Brian tonight, and Conan did something I've never seen anyone do (but always hoped for): he asked Harrison Ford about the Star Wars Holiday Special! It was just so funny that I had to rewind the ol' Tivo, download the clip to my computer, convert it to an mpeg, and post it for everyone to enjoy. And if you've never experienced the exquisite torture of the SWHS, can you really call yourself a Star Wars fan?

Finally after years of wanting to see that show, a "friend" of mine made a tape of it for me. It was so unbelievably bad, I couldn't even finish watching it. It is AMAZING how astoundingly bad that show is. ANd heck - that clip is mild in comparison. Remember when Chewie's grandpa is watchign in this doohicky at an almost nekkid woman doing some kind of pole dance? Ewww!

Oh, the orgasmatron! It took me three tries and a large quantity of alcohol to get through it. I had always heard it was bad, but the depth of that badness was a complete shock. WTF was Lucas thinking when he okayed that horrible feature-length show?

And you know, I've always wondered -- is the SWHS canon? I think that's where the notion of a Lifeday in SW canon/fanon comes from, isn't it?

Well, Lifeday comes from that - and the SWHS is where Boba Fett first appeared. And the names of CHewie's family - I think that 's all accepted as canon.

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing the clip! XD I get up early for work, so I'm in bed early and always miss the good stuff on Conan! Harrison Ford squirming in his seat is not a common sight.

The SWHS has a fond place in my heart. I know it's bad, but that's part of its charm. I still mourn that my hubby loaned our copy out and never got it back. He has promised that he'll replace it at the next comicon we attend. *grin* Lowie is just so cuuuuuute!
