Harrison Ford on the SWHS
Feb. 8th, 2006 12:33 amHarrison Ford was on Conan O'Brian tonight, and Conan did something I've never seen anyone do (but always hoped for): he asked Harrison Ford about the Star Wars Holiday Special! It was just so funny that I had to rewind the ol' Tivo, download the clip to my computer, convert it to an mpeg, and post it for everyone to enjoy. And if you've never experienced the exquisite torture of the SWHS, can you really call yourself a Star Wars fan?
The clip is on YSI here (40 MB). Let me know when the link runs out and I'll refresh it. Enjoy!
ETA: Meep! I've exceeded my bandwidth for the month already! I just had to buy more bandwidth, so I've taken the link down from my site. Again, let me know if the YSI link has run out.

[As I have never claimed to be a Star Wars fan, I feel no shame in not knowing about this. But I will use my ONE SW icon. :P]

Date: 2006-02-08 07:03 am (UTC)And yes, I managed to find a copy of that gem so I could know the torture of watching the introductory 15-20 minutes of pure Wookie talk just to see what kind of crack ol Gerogie was on.
Thank you for posting this!

Date: 2006-02-08 09:07 am (UTC)The Star Wars Holiday Special is more cracktastic than pretty much anything else I've seen. It's just so terrifying.

Date: 2006-02-08 01:08 pm (UTC)I grew up on the Star Wars Holiday special -- those of you who haven't seen it? it IS that bad!
I can't believe Conan had the nerve to ask that.
Impressed by Ford's acting (either that or Lucas has REAL goood drugs for its peeps)

Date: 2006-02-08 03:15 pm (UTC)And you know, I've always wondered -- is the SWHS canon? I think that's where the notion of a Lifeday in SW canon/fanon comes from, isn't it?

Date: 2006-02-08 03:15 pm (UTC)Poor Harrison. He should have admitted they were all on drugs when they made it.

Date: 2006-02-08 04:35 pm (UTC)I thought all the actors had suppressed the memories. He could trigger a flashback, and no-ne wants to see Harrison Ford clutching Mr O'Brien's leg, sobbing like a baby...

Date: 2006-02-09 06:45 am (UTC)I can remember watching it when it first came out. I was seven, and uncritical - possibly the target audience.

Date: 2006-02-10 12:08 pm (UTC)The SWHS has a fond place in my heart. I know it's bad, but that's part of its charm. I still mourn that my hubby loaned our copy out and never got it back. He has promised that he'll replace it at the next comicon we attend. *grin* Lowie is just so cuuuuuute!
