OMG, how can it be November already???

Here, have some WTF moments from trick-or-treating last night:

(1) A little girl dressed as a pirate told me that her costume originally had a skull and crossbones on it, but her mom had taken the skull off. "I'm not allowed to wear skulls," she said. When I asked why not, she replied, "Because skulls are Satanic." All while wielding a blood-stained sword. So... apparently that's not Satanic? I'm not what you'd call religious, but I'm a bit confused on this one.

(2) A (white) woman accompanying her trick-or-treating child was dressed as Jimi Hendrix. Complete with blackface. Um... no. In fact, HELL no. No candy for you, lady.

(3) We gave away popcorn (freshly popped from our awesome carnival-sized popcorn machine) and the kids LOVED it. Seriously, we got so many compliments on that. We overheard kids saying we were a "good house" at least a dozen times. There was a huge bucket of candy next to the popcorn machine, and kids actually walked around it to get to the popcorn. We couldn't give away candy on Halloween! I took most of it to school today and foisted it off on my students. Maybe that one is not so much WTF as surprising, that children would be thrilled to get popcorn on this traditional candy holiday. :-)

(4) And for a bonus WTF, my mom got a lone trick-treater who was fully robed, face covered. He was tall, so she assumed he was a teenager, but when he held out his candy bag, his hands were clearly those of a 60-year-old man. Trick-or-treating. All by himself. She was a little freaked out by that, and I'm not sure if I feel sorry for him or want to give him props for balls alone.

Thanks for all the v-gifts last week! I was AFK over the weekend, so I missed my chance to give them back, but they were all so very appreciated! ♥
