I've been hearing about FanLib here and there, and the last post on
metafandom links to a bunch of posts on the topic. According to this one (a reposting of an article on the subject from somewhere) FanLib sent emails around March 22 to "serious fan fiction authors on various sites and invited only a few hundred based on their writing and impact in the community". The article quoted there goes on to say that "a serious fan fiction writer could have anywhere from 30 to 100 stories, with upwards of 700 regular readers subscribed to their blogs or LiveJournal accounts."
So did any of you get invites to post your fic there? FTR, I didn't get an invite, and frankly, I have zero interest in being part of something like that. Like almost everyone else, I have some serious fears about how this sort of thing could eventually be the death of fandom as we know it. But I had to go and see who in the HP fandom had joined up and was posting their fic there. I didn't recognize any names, and a scan of the summaries honestly made me think of FFN. And of
mctabby's Summary Executions.
And now I'm thinking, oh perfect -- this will be the public face of fan fiction. :-P
