This is what happens when I start following links around.

I need to be better about crediting: Seen on Pandagon.

It just can't be real. It's waaay over the top, full of winks and nudges, and is hilariously campy at moments. It seems more like a parody of right wing bigots than a serious attempt to promote those bigoted beliefs. It's almost like one of Andy Samberg's SNL videos. The line about sodomy seriously made me choke on my coffee. That other guy who keeps popping up in the video is pretty hot. If it is real, I'm thinking this "ex-gay" Donnie Davies guy is a glutton for punishment. I love how he calls Oscar Wilde a "reformed homosexual" on the "ministry's" web page. 0_o

Oh, and he has a list of "gay bands" that parents should know about, because if your kid is listening to any of them, ZOMG THEY MIGHT BE GAY. Since when is Metallica a gay band? *scratches head*

I really can't tell is this is a joke or not. Is he a bigoted asshat or a very clever parodist? What do you think?

Edit: I fucking LOVE Michael Moore!!!

Edit 2: You Tube took the video down, but he put up a short video that says "God Hates Censorship" a half an hour ago (8:40-ish CST) here. Bwahaha, go spam him! Video can be seen here. (Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] puma_gottin!)

I'm going to try to use this as an opportunity to write episode 1 of Order of the Dragon (which I wrote the prologue to about a year ago and then kept putting on the back burner). No more back burner for this fic! Motivation, woo! ;-)

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only married woman who wasn't proposed to. I don't feel particularly weird about that, because I think it's a bizarre tradition, to be honest. In a heterosexual relationship, I don't see any reason why the man should be the one to decide it's time to make a commitment formal. (Not that I begrudge anyone their romantic proposal stories, of course.)

MDH and I talked about getting married off and on for years before we officially got engaged. I don't really know who brought it up first, but I think it was clear when I moved across the country to be with him that we both considered it a serious relationship. And one day I said, "We ought to think about getting married around the time I graduate from college", and he was like, "Yeah, that's sounds like a good time to do it. Do you want a ring?" And I shrugged and said, "Yeah, sure. Why not?" That weekend we went to a jewelry store and bought a modest little diamond ring for me. And that was it. Not terribly romantic, but it's totally us, heh.

So what about you other married/committed/engaged-to-be-so folks out there? Poll!

[Poll #912883]

If you aren't married/committed and aren't opposed to being so someday (or hell, even if you are), what are your thoughts about the traditional proposal thing?
