I suck at writing very short fics, especially for a challenge or an exchange. I just get these really complicated stories in my head and then I labor over them for ages, and they turn out to be so much bigger than they probably should have been. All of those challenges suggest fics of 1000 words, but seriously, does anyone really write fics that short for other people? Writing 1000 words is not hard, but I have a really difficult time telling a story in so few words.
And so I am unbelievably late in writing fics for the
Demelza House Fundraiser, and I need to publicly apologize both to the wonderfully patient folks at The Quidditch Pitch who've been very understanding about my tardiness, but especially to
zully and
brandybuck, whose generous donations to the fundraiser deserve fic. Chicas, I swear your fics are coming! Maybe not in the next week, but they will be posted eventually, and I sincerely hope you'll find them worth the wait!
And I seem to have committed myself to
four holiday exchanges/challenges, all the fics for which are due the week of Thanksgiving.
I can do this. I can.
