Whee! More GOF!

Saw GOF for a third time last night with [livejournal.com profile] charlotteschaos and HDH. I think we scared the people around us, hehe. It wasn't a terribly fannish crowd, but the three of us started giggling at the scene where Cedric gives Harry the hint about the egg (oh so slashy), and then everyone around us started laughing too. I don't know if they were laughing at the same thing we were laughing at, though...

I really, really like this film. I didn't re-read the book before (haven't read it in years, actually), and I think that helped me enjoy the film on its own. I didn't go in with any particular expectations, and I wasn't disappointed by what was there or not there. There's a sense in which I look at the films like I look at fanfic, because ultimately, they're someone else's interpretation of the story. And like fanfic, sometimes we get new stuff that wasn't in the text (like the dorm scene in POA), and that's fantastic! (Speaking of fantastic, [livejournal.com profile] nomeremuggle has posted a slow-mo clip of Harry getting in the tub here. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] thatzeppogirl for pointing it out!)

ETA: Oh! You know that look Harry gives Ron just after Hermione orders them up to bed at the end of the Ball (together, Char points out)? I have been wracking my brain to figure out why that looked so familiar, and aha -- that's the exact same look Ewan McGregor had on his face in... some film. Crap. Anyway, it's a Ewan thing. :-D

I watched POA over the weekend, and I was struck by how little the kids looked after seeing GOF. I also watched COS (which I hadn't done in a while, not my favorite) and was fairly stunned by the difference in the styles of the films. The movies seem to be getting better and better, and that makes me so excited for the next one!

I'm about to head out of town to spend quality time with MDH, so you won't see me around here much until next week. Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too. And I hope that you have a nice trip. :)

I have to agree with your viewing it like fanfic. I think this movie was great. They do seem to be getting better and better. And really how can you pack that much book into 2 1/2 hours? It's impossible! Definately looking forward to the next, I'm dying to see how they portray Bellatrix and Umbridge, such deliciously evil women!
Have a great holiday with your DH!

*Still* haven't seen it. Just got home about 15 minutes ago, though. Hoping for tomorrow. Today's just not happening. Alas.

Now more to squee about, I suppose.

I do be loving the spoilers. (and, really... spoilers for a movie based on a book? feh.)

Thank you!! For letting me muse over the film a little bit more haha. Yes, they do seem to be improving, don't they?? I certainly hope so. GOF has most obviously been my favorite so far (goodness, the sexuality). It's so strange, they look like such babies in SS and COS, yet I still knew that 11 year old Daniel Radcliffe would one day have massive sex appeal. Hmm...

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

I choose to think that they realized what was making us giggle ;)

that's the exact same look Ewan McGregor had on his face in... some film.

Maybe you're thinking of Down With Love? He does make some fun faces in that one. :)

Happy Thanksgiving to you too. :D

Yes! I think it was something in Down With Love!

Someone in the Imax theatre last night wolf-whistled when Cedric cornered Harry about the egg. OH CEDRIC YOU'RE SO ADORABLY SLASHY MMMMMMM.

So true, all the people I've talked to are the ones who've read the book 10+ times.

one of my favorite moments was when the twins were harrassing hermione over her reading...threesome, anyone?

[identity profile] gyutto.livejournal.com 2005-11-22 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
ugh...I'm so dumb, I meant all the people I've talked to that don't really like the film have read GoF a lot.

I'm sooo happy that I'm not the only one that noticed the undertones when Cedric was telling Harry about the clue!!! If it wasn't for the fact that I was in a theater full of 10 years watching the movie, I so would have pointed it out, out loud! I wanted to die from laughing.

Movie 5

Book five was my least favorite.....for obvious reasons.....but I cannot WAIT to see Harry carving "I will not tell lies" into his hands. That is going to be so dark and so creepy! Cant wait cant wait!
