Separated by a common language.

Recent discussions about the subtle variations in how English is spoken in different places got me thinking about the less-than-subtle variations. I'm not a linguist by any stretch (though I did take a few courses in linguistics in college as part of one of my majors), but I've always been fascinated by the ways language evolves.

( I grew up in the Appalachian Mountains, and there were definitely some interesting quirks in the language. )
