OMG, HOW did I not know about this vid before??? It's hilarious, and really well-done. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fabu for the link.)

Edited post is edited: And what about this awesome spoof of the movie by [livejournal.com profile] sarahtales, OMG? Judging by the number of comments, I'm one of the last people to read it, heh. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sorion for the link.)
emmagrant01: (DD gay)
This is worth a watch if you haven't seen it. Simultaneously hilarious and frightening.

Maybe it's because I live in Texas and am paranoid about such things, but it's pretty scary to me that a good chunk of the world would agree with Robert Knight about the Dumbledore outing.

Though seriously? Dan Abrams is FTW. "At least they won't have to have abortions now." *snerk*

Edit: David Thewlis: "I always thought [Remus] was the gay character!" ♥ [HPANA]

I blew off some grading today and spent a ridiculous amount of time catching up on the Luke/Noah storyline on As the World Turns. My god, I totally forgot how addicting soap operas can be! Happily, there are plenty of folks who distill out the parts you want to see and post the clips.

And then I may have wasted even more time reading some really amazing fanfic...

[livejournal.com profile] lauramcewan just pointed me to this adorable Dan video. OMG so priceless!

Oh, why couldn't that kiss have been just a bit to the left???

This clip has been floating around for a while, but it cracks me up every time I see it. This is Larry Craig (the anti-gay Idaho Republican Senator who recently plead guilty to soliciting sex from another man in an airport bathroom) talking about Bill Clinton in a really interesting way.

I don't know whether to enjoy laughing at the stupid hypocrite or to feel sorry for him for hating himself so much.
emmagrant01: (Prophecy)
We're sitting around watching YouTube vids in the lobby, and [livejournal.com profile] ficlette just pointed us to the "Hard Gay" videos (which she pronounced as "hahd ghey" with that cute Boston accent). It is FUCKING HILARIOUS OMG.

As seen on [livejournal.com profile] cakeforever: Cakedance! And before you hit "play" look at them in the screencap below, how they're TOTALLY leaning on each other!!!

*is smitten*

ETA a Cake fanvid. Hee! )

Remember this video of Karl Rove dancing to a rap song about him?

Jon Stewart has a nice little video response. (Link goes to Crooks and Liars, where you can download the video, since Comedy Central yanks all Jon Stewart clips off of YouTube now...)

And hell, while I'm loving on Jon, he has a great segment mocking Richard Cohen (one of those "ex-gay therapists") here. :-D

Edit: Comedy Central is posting embeddable videos now on their own site. I've put the videos mentioned above behind the cut. )
emmagrant01: (WTF?)
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. This is just too fucking bizarre for words. 0_0

1. There's a great simulation of a ride on Disneyland's Space Mountain on YouTube here and it's AWESOME. Best viewed full-screen -- click the little box at the bottom right of the viewing screen. (Seen on Boing Boing.)

2. The finale of Grease: You're the One That I Want, which I have been following like an addict, is on tonight. They're replaying the whole season on Bravo today, and I just rewatched the couples show, and wow -- they had paired Austin & Laura and Max & Ashley (the four finalists) for that show! Crazy. I voted for Austin and Laura last week, though honestly I'd love any combination of the finalists. They're all amazingly talented. Edit: And as I'm watching all of these shows through this afternoon, I starting to like Max a little more than Austin. Heh.

3. Suzie Bright links to this video of Betty Dodson drawing a map of female genitalia, emphasizing how much of the clitoris is on the inside. Interesting!

Last night [livejournal.com profile] phaballa and I went to a pop music singalong at the Alamo Drafthouse, but were saddened by the fact that the omnipresent host Drafthouse Henri was not present.

First, this is a promo for the singalong we went to, just to give you a sense of the whole thing:

To feed my Drafthouse Henri fix, I decided to go look for some of his YouTube vids.

Henri's crush on Justin Timberlake is so cute! Rock Your Body... )
The original Cedar Fever video: 'Giiirl, you gave meee the clap...' )
Ickle Henry attempts to film a porny threeway. )

Oh, Henri... come back to us!

I KNEW IT. Bwahahaha! You go, Joey!

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] eloiselovelace for the heads-up!

Post about Donnie Davies from last week.
emmagrant01: (laugh)
This is what happens when I start following links around.

I need to be better about crediting: Seen on Pandagon.

It just can't be real. It's waaay over the top, full of winks and nudges, and is hilariously campy at moments. It seems more like a parody of right wing bigots than a serious attempt to promote those bigoted beliefs. It's almost like one of Andy Samberg's SNL videos. The line about sodomy seriously made me choke on my coffee. That other guy who keeps popping up in the video is pretty hot. If it is real, I'm thinking this "ex-gay" Donnie Davies guy is a glutton for punishment. I love how he calls Oscar Wilde a "reformed homosexual" on the "ministry's" web page. 0_o

Oh, and he has a list of "gay bands" that parents should know about, because if your kid is listening to any of them, ZOMG THEY MIGHT BE GAY. Since when is Metallica a gay band? *scratches head*

I really can't tell is this is a joke or not. Is he a bigoted asshat or a very clever parodist? What do you think?

Edit: I fucking LOVE Michael Moore!!!

Edit 2: You Tube took the video down, but he put up a short video that says "God Hates Censorship" a half an hour ago (8:40-ish CST) here. Bwahaha, go spam him! Video can be seen here. (Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] puma_gottin!)
emmagrant01: (ROTS)
I spent more than 12 hours yesterday doing something I'd meant to do for a long time, but somehow had never done: watching all six Star Wars movies on the same day. Cinemax has been playing them on a loop all weekend, so I started yesterday morning with ROTJ, and ended after midnight with ESB. And then got up again this morning and put the TV back on Cinemax to keep watching.

And wow, it was really, really interesting. There are so many things I now see in the OT films that look different after watching the prequels. For example: Vader's search for Luke in ESB. Why does he go after Luke's friends to lure him into a trap? He knows Luke was being trained by Obi-Wan, and for all he knows, Luke was raised by Obi in the old traditions and wouldn't have attachments to others. I'd like to think Vader was thinking of himself there -- the best way for someone to lure him into a trap would have been to go after Padme. And that's why he tortures Han, because he knows Luke will respond to seeing his friends suffer. That was exactly how Palpatine seduced Anakin, after all -- by tormenting him with fears that Padme would suffer and die. It worked for Anakin, so it seems to be a reasonable assumption that it would work for Luke. (And more than a little slashy, even though I've never really been into Han/Luke so much.)

It's also interesting how emo I get watching these films. There are so many moments that make me cry, even though I know them well enough to recite the dialogue along with the actors. When Anakin slaughters the children at the Temple, when Order 66 starts, and when Luke reaches out to Leia through the Force (in ESB), I get choked up. I get chills when Yoda says, "Your father he is" in ROTJ, and when Obi-Wan says, "Anakin is the father, isn't he?" in ROTS. I'm on the edge of my seat during all the lightsaber battles (especially in the prequels because they're so damn good), and I cheer every time the good guys win the battle. And I think ROTS is my favorite of the six, I really do. Maybe it's because it brings the whole story together, or maybe because it's so fucking angsty -- but I love it. I love how it shows us that Anakin really did become a Jedi, and that he wasn't easy to turn, but that in the end he did it for what he thought were the right reasons. And knowing that it will be Luke who redeems him someday, who will truly be the "chosen one" who will fulfill that prophecy that Anakin never could -- that makes it an amazing story. Edit: Just watched the scene at the end of ROTJ where Vader kills Palpatine, and wow -- that scene is SO much more powerful now, after knowing Anakin's story. It's somehow all the more meaningful now.

And you know, I can no longer watch that scene at the end of ROTJ, where Vader/Anakin dies, without thinking of this scene from Chasing Amy.

And while I'm at it, here's a hilarious video of Kevin Smith at Comic-Con. In the first few minutes, he slashes Spiderman, and it gets better from there. "Are you willing to suck cock for your dreams? We all gotta start somewhere. You could start on your knees."
emmagrant01: (Buffy hee!)
1. I don't think I have to restrict it though, right? I think it means at least one post a day. I've seen some people saying that they're struggling to find something to post about, but I seem not to have a problem with that. :-P

2. So, WTF Faith Hill? )

Her publicist has apparently said she didn't know she was on camera and that she was joking. Don't those two things seem contradictory? Hmmm...

3. Have you ever Mary-Sued yourself into a fandom dream? I dreamed I was in a Buffy episode last night. I was totally a Mary Sue, too -- helping Buffy kick ass, giving Willow tips on magic, making out with Spike... I was a little mortified when I woke up. But I have to admit I liked it. ;-)
