emmagrant01: (Cho knows Harry's gay)
[livejournal.com profile] cordelia_v started this one, and it was intriguing.

I no longer value what I used to, really. Easy to dismiss what you've got a lot of, of course. Anyway, it boils down to simple truths for me, more and more. So tell me, what are yours?

Gacked from everybody, woot!

01 take a picture of your bag.
02 now dump everything out and neatly adjust them, and take a picture [no matter how embarrassing].
03 talk about the items inside. details, plz.

My purse these days is a... )

This post totally turned into a discussion about cloth diapers, hee!

This being a mom thing is really keeping me busy. I keep meaning to get back into fandom, and I keep not having the time. And I miss you guys SOOO much! I wanna read some porn, dudes. Hell, I wanna write some porn.

I'm going to make an effort to get involved again. I have a few fics that I set aside to work on holiday exchange fics last fall, and then when BG was born in January I never got back to them. One was my big post-DH H/D fic that I was so excited about. Must dig that one up and dust it off...

In the meantime, here's a meme gacked from [livejournal.com profile] phaballa: Ten years ago today... )
emmagrant01: (Default)
(This was gacked from someone who posted it flocked.)

1. Performing will always be part of your life, but it will never be a career. You're using it as an escape from reality right now, and deep down you know that. But still, start taking voice lessons now. You'll be happy you did.

2. Boys your age really are asshats. (And yes, that includes Kevin -- stop making out with him whenever he snaps his fingers, because he's using you until he can get back together with his ex.) Older guys are better. Hint: There's an older guy in your future.

3. You're just starting to ignore what other people think and be yourself. Be brave! In twenty years, you won't remember why it was such a big deal to be considered different because of the way you colored your hair or artfully tore your clothes.

4. Ellis is gay. He will never ask you out, so stop mooning over him. Besides, he's a pretentious, racist jerk, and even if he were straight, you could do better. Oh, and Patrick and John are also gay, so forget about getting it on with either of them. What is it with you and gay boys? (This comment will seem very ironic in about 15 years.)

5. Take that $1500 you have in your savings account and on June 22 of next year, invest it in a company called Dell.

6. You think the 1980s are the worst time anyone could have been a teenager, and sadly, you're right about that.

7. That decision you made to wait and to lose your virginity with someone you cared about was a good one (see point 2), so hang in there. But after that, go tell mom and go on the pill. She'll understand (really, she will), and you'll save yourself a year of sneaking around and taking unnecessary risks.

8. Spend as much time with your grandparents as possible. Call them every week, and ask them about their childhood memories. Spend the night with them on a weekend, just for the hell of it. Learn how Grandma makes those amazing biscuits.

9. Learn to play a musical instrument. Might I suggest the guitar?

10. You are NOT fat. In fact, you have a perfect body right now. Wear that bikini, seriously.

Travel meme

Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] cordelia_v.

It's appropriate, no? )

But I have to say, this list does NOT include the most interesting places I've been. There are far more worthwhile sights to see in the world than a handful of amusement parks. ;-)
emmagrant01: (Default)
As seen on my flist.

-Go to IMDB.com and look up 10 TV shows you like(d).
-Post three official IMDB "Plot Keywords" for these 10 picks.
-Have your friends guess the show names.

1. Busty Heroine / Space Exploration / Alien Contact
2. Crypt / Action Heroine / Teenage Girl
3. Film Industry / Acting / Writing
4. Competition / Cooking / Kitchen
5. Small Town / High School / Texas
6. Homosexuality / Sex / Twenty Something
7. Competition / World Travel / Human Relationship
8. Working Class Family / Homosexuality / Polygamy
9. New York / Friendship / Roommate
10. Singles / Casual Sex / Columnist

Correctly guessed answers under cut. )
emmagrant01: (Trekkie pervert)
So yeah. I saw this meme on my flist and thought it would be fun to fuck around with it. You know, see if it would give me a result of "OMG YOU PERV!!1!" after my twisted attempt at a mountain, a path, and trees (the three required elements). Which it didn't:

You are driven and ambitious and tend to make radical moves to reach your goals. You are a thoughtful and cautious person. You like to think about your method, seeking to pursue your goal in the most effective way. You are creative, mentally active and industrious. You are ambitious and optimistic, determined to prove and advertise yourself.

I guess that's all basically true, though most quiz results are generic enough to apply to anyone. But I think the results are based more on how I answered the questions than any actual analysis of my drawing. Maybe. I still like my pervy drawing, though. :-D

What does your drawing say about YOU?
emmagrant01: (embarrassed)
If my life was a movie, it would be rated:

What would your life be rated?
brought to you by thatsurveysite

So writing smutty slash for five years doesn't count, eh? Of course, there weren't any questions to capture the debauchery that is fandom life.

But still, I would've thought I'd do better than an R. Maybe it's because I've never had a threesome. *scratches head*

ETA: I decided to take this quiz from the perspective of LMH/STG Draco, and this is what he got:

If my life was a movie, it would be rated:

What would your life be rated?
brought to you by thatsurveysite

On an unrelated (AI) note: GO MELINDA!!!!
emmagrant01: (candy heart)
What kind of candy heart am I? A V-Day Sampler. )

I took two quizzes that had no cutesy picture for me to post in my LJ at the end. What the hell? Don't they know that's the whole point of taking internet quizzes?

So then I decided to make my own hearts. )
emmagrant01: (Ass in snow)
I had dinner tonight with [livejournal.com profile] bekkio, [livejournal.com profile] lagreyeyes, and their families. Bekki's kids are completely adorable, and she's such a sweet person. LA's son is a doll, and gosh, she's so gorgeous and sophisticated! Her husband was a hoot too, talking about his iPod and his favorite TV shows. It was a lovely way to spend an evening. :-)

Meme stolen from various folks on my flist. I usually don't do these personal ones, but I'm feeling weirdly vulnerable at the moment. )

I can honestly say this is a sexual position I've never tried in my life. :-P )

ETA: More animated sex here. :-D
emmagrant01: (God)
Okay, this?

You know the Bible 74%!

Wow! You are truly a student of the Bible! Some of the questions were difficult, but they didn't slow you down! You know the books, the characters, the events . . . Very impressive!

Is fucked up. I have never read the Bible. Ever. I have been an atheist for most of my life. I haven't been to church since I was in grade school.

And I got a C on the random internet Bible quiz? WTF?
emmagrant01: (Default)
Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] cereta:

Ask me one fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom-specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general. Question can be as wacky as you want. Ask me about characters, fanfic in general, fandom issues/meta, anything about any of my stories specifically. Whatever you want.

emmagrant01: (Default)
I've never done this meme, and I've always wanted to.

I wrote 22 fics in 2006, about 130,000 words. )

My Peculiar Aristocratic Title is:

Get your Peculiar Aristocratic Title

Okay, I admit it. I tweaked it. But I only changed two letters...

In other news, I just finished knitting my last Christmas gift. I need not to look at yarn for a while. And yay, I can go back to reading fest fics! I can knit while watching TV, but not while reading, for some reason.

Oh, and go check out this stunning Yoda/Palpatine art on [livejournal.com profile] jedi__santa! Yes, I know what you're thinking. Trust me. ;-)
emmagrant01: (snow globe)
What would you put in my Christmas stocking? )

Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] inell

Edit: Wow. It's going to be a lovely Christmas! ;-)

So, what's the stupidest summary you've ever written? You know, maybe it was a long time ago and you didn't know better, or maybe it really sounded like a great summary at the time. Here's mine:

Padawans Obi-Wan and Siri are on a survival exercise together. Guess what happens?

Bet you'll never guess! *gags*
emmagrant01: (Default)
I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] slytherincess to do this, and it sounded like fun.

RULES: Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names.

Ten weird facts about me. )

I tag [livejournal.com profile] charlotteschaos, [livejournal.com profile] shezan, [livejournal.com profile] jedirita, [livejournal.com profile] geoviki, [livejournal.com profile] mijan, [livejournal.com profile] phaballa, and [livejournal.com profile] batagur. (I know, that's seven. Nyah.)

That house quiz thingie. My result? )

On a complete different note, [livejournal.com profile] jedirita came up on Friday night and the three of us (she, MDH, and I) cooked dinner together and hung out, and then Rita showed me some of her favorite Xena episodes. She left me the first two seasons of Xena in exchange for the first two seasons of Angel. And she taught us how to make samosas -- yum.

I hosted a fandom meet-up today at my house, and we had a blast! We watched Velvet Goldmine (worth it for the Ewan McGregor/JRM action alone), Sex, Politics, & Cocktails (a coming-out indie film that I don't think anyone else had seen), and the first episode of the UK Queer as Folk (and some of the folks there had never seen any QAF, so that was fun). We ran out of time before we could get to Damon & Hunter, but we'll just have to save it for another time. It was one of the biggest crowds we've had yet at a local meet-up, with [livejournal.com profile] jedirita, [livejournal.com profile] phaballa, [livejournal.com profile] stargategirl82, [livejournal.com profile] complete, [livejournal.com profile] maybe_someday8, [livejournal.com profile] aluinnsearlait and her friend Sara, whose LJ name I didn't catch, [livejournal.com profile] stephanometra, [livejournal.com profile] anoneknewmoose and [livejournal.com profile] prestonsbarr. That's almost a third of the folks on the [livejournal.com profile] hp_centraltx comm, so it was a good turnout! MDH was quite patient for someone whose home had been taken over by fangirls for the day. But at this point, he's pretty much used to it. ;-)

Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth. Personality tests are fun, though I'm always a bit skeptical -- especially when they start by asking you for your astrological sign. I'm a Leo, but I don't ever seem to match how Leos are described. In fact, I don't match any of the signs. Perhaps this is because I think astrology is a crock of shit. But I digress...

Results under a cut to spare your flist-cruising. )
emmagrant01: (Default)
As seen in the last twenty or so posts on my flist:

My Interests Collage! And what does it say about me that this is incredibly not worksafe? Heh. )

In other news, I am finally home. Yay! It's been a crazy summer of travel, and I'm glad it's done.

Oh and I am slowly watching my way through the entire Buffy series. Finished season one last night, w00t! Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of fanfic out there written for season one, so I guess I'm going to have to wait until I've seen more to find fic to read. I'm enjoying it so far, though it seems like the canon is still a bit thin at this point. I'm a little unsure about what vampires can and can't do -- I assume that becomes more clear as time goes on? Or is most of that fanon?
